Exhausted!

For the second night in a row, I attended a party. This time, a birthday party.

I was fetched by a friend and there was no traffic, surprisingly.

The food was great - lasagna, lengua, chicken, shrimp, lechon, and lots of dessert. There was salad and crab but I didn't get any.

When the drizzle became stronger, we had to go for cover. They brought a table and we grabbed chairs.

Conversation was the usual "alaskahan" because we were with college friends. One of us was newly elected president of the Ateneo Alumni Association. So people are asking him for tickets to basketball games. We have another friend who is coming home for the holidays so we ought to plan what to do when he is around.

Someone who left early gave away stromboli as Christmas presents. We all texted him to say "Thanks for the s-tinapay".

We were among the last to leave, as usual.

I was so exhausted I slept practically the whole day today!

Surviving

Mom has been away for more than a week and I am surviving! Ha ha

Yesterday, I went to work for a client. So happens, it was the birthday celebration of her daughter, Angel. They rented a house with a swimming pool.

I got to eat paella, barbecue, lasagna and chocolate. Delicious!

Reena lent me a book entitled, "How to Have Kick-Ass Ideas". Very interesting book. About creativity again.

Her driver brought me home.
------------

Today, my sister brought me adobong pusit (1 Kilo). Sarap! I ate it for lunch and dinner.

She also brought me sanitary napkin. It's my second day today.

I chatted a short while with a friend.

I played several rounds of online scrabble. Except once, I kept winning against the computer. As usual.

I got to watch parts of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" and "Talentadong Pinoy".

Party Time

Yesterday, I attended the 50th birthday party of my friend, Bangy. He is also a member of Kappa Pi Pi, my barkada in college. Andy fetched me.

Just as we arrived, it was time for earth hour so they turned off the lights and lit the candles. Food was from Tokyo Tokyo.

There were some games. How well do you know Bangy? List items starting with "B" that describes or have something to do with Bangy. Both games, our table won. We had seaweed and chocolates as prizes.

There was an audio-visual presentation of Bangy's wedding. And another one of Bangy through the years.

People greeted Bangy and told a few anecdotes about him.

There were two cakes. One huge one with the letter B and one tall one from Conti's.

I reached home past 12 already.

I'm not used to sleeping late so I was not able to attend the graduation party of my best friend's son. I wasn't feeling well. Or I simply was too sleepy.

The Party

It was not meant to be a party for me. Yesterday, I and some friends visited an NGO for abused girls. There were more than 20 of them.

But before we could start our program, the first thing the girls did was sing "Happy Birthday". I was deeply touched and that was only the beginning!

My two friends, Patsy and Tina, taught the girls how to make hand-made paper. The girls enthusiastically learned the craft. Such that my other friend, RN (she wants to remain anonymous) volunteered to buy some of the materials for the girls.

Then, to our surprise and delight, the girls performed a four-dance number! They were great!

We had a couple of games thereafter and the winners got to choose their prizes.

While waiting for the food, I got to chat with a few girls. They may be smiling. Some of them were full of energy. But the eyes...the eyes were sad.

They noticed I was in a lot of pain. They said they will pray for me, "Ipagprepray ka namin, Ate Nimia".

I was starting to cough and had the beginnings of a cold so I asked a girl if she can find me some Vicks. Miracle of miracles! She had one right in her bag! Of all the 20+ girls in that place, I had to ask the one with Vicks Vaporub!

And of course, before we left for home, they gave me a hand-made card...the one I wrote about yesterday.

So, even if I was not feeling well, I'm so glad to have visited that place. I'm sure to come back as often as possible.
