Yes!

I finished my FGD report today. It is due September 27, so I am several days ahead of schedule. Anyway, that would give time to two consultants to react and give feedback, including suggestions for improvement.

---------
Yey, I have a new Client. It is a relatively new marketing research company. The owner/head used to work for Pulse/AC Nielsen so I know her. Already, we are talking about 2 possible projects. There would be more for sure. Thank You, Lord!

---------
I might have an FGD this October or November for a client-friend. I would either be both the facilitator and analyst, or analyst only. Looking forward to it.
--------
My older brother called to consult about a study he wants to be conducted. I took down notes and came up with a written research design. Glad to be of help.
--------
I had my CBC this morning. The medtech came to our condo. My mom got the results: good news is that my platelet count is now normal, bad news is my hemoglobin went down.

--------
My mom finally went to see her rheumatologist. Painkillers and other medicines were prescribed. She can continue with our home remedies. My son accompanied her to the hospital to push her wheelchair. My sister's driver drove for my mom and son. They right away bought medicines and they bought lunch from KFC.

So, the food I ordered (meat balls and eggplant omelet) will be for another meal or two. I ate spaghetti of KFC. I set aside the salad they bought for me.

Then, my niece dropped by to give Country Chicken. Delicious! She also brought buchi for mom. She took a nap in our bedroom. Poor niece, she lacks sleep these days.
--------
I thank God for family, friends and food! What do you know? Triple F ha ha.

The Power of the Small

That's the title of a book but sorry, I can't recall where I came across it. Anyway, it's basically about the small things, the little deeds, that matter. These are acts of kindness to others.

I am grateful for the many opportunities that come my way to be able to do such "small" things. People ask me to pray for them or their loved ones. People ask help with things regarding the computer or the Internet. (I help search for the info that they need for instance.) I am willing to listen to friends in distress. People ask me to come up with creative ideas or to write various stuff - a letter, a poem, etc. People seek my advice and I am more than happy to give it. People ask me to comment on something they have done or written.

The list goes on...

But no matter the favor, I give it wholeheartedly. Yes, indeed, there is such as thing as the power of the small.

--------
A friend who visited me recently gave me lots of goodies- 2 bags of chicharon with special vinegar, peanuts, strawberry jam, dalanghita juice, sampaloc (tamarind), macapuno and ube balls. I immediately thanked him for his kindness and thoughtfulness! Mom was pleased, too, since she has a sweet tooth.

--------
Another friend came over yesterday and we had a Bibliarasal together. We prayed for each other and for our own needs. We thanked God for blessings received. We shared our reflections on the three readings for today. Then, we had some merienda. She was invited to a house blessing and she was the guest of honor. So, she did not eat a lot since there is sure to be a lot of food in the house blessing.
-------
My aunt gave me P500! I used the money to order food from a new restaurant in Shopwise called ICB (Inasal Chicken Bacolod). I ordered kare-kare, chicken inasal, garlic and plain rice, and Coke Zero. The bill was P464 so I said "keep the change" to the delivery boy. My son and I had a nice lunch.

Then, in the evening my sister and niece dropped by and brought four bottles of lotion. (I use lotion when massaging my mom's feet daily and we ran out of it.) They also brought grilled liempo from Grill Queen. Yummy!

-------
I finished reading "Sins of Omission"by Catherine Lanigan (sounds Filipino, right?). I enjoyed the book from start to finish but it's not a suspense thriller. It has romance, family, business, success, and vengeance in it. Nice read!

I am starting to read a new book, entitled "Mitigating Circumstances". Looks interesting, too.
-------
I am lifting excerpts from another book, "The Art of War" and I am looking for a nice powerpoint template for it.
-------
I noticed I haven't been sleeping that much anymore - no afternoon naps and I rise from bed each morning much earlier than before. That is probably because I am no longer taking thalidomide which causes somnolence or drowsiness. Yey, I have more time to work or play.
-------
I am glad that mom is no longer in pain. Her new doctor prescribed an effective medicine and she immediately felt better. Thank God for medicines!
-------
My mom is sound asleep right now. Me? After this, I shall play a few word games like Scrabble Sprint (at pogo.com) and Bookworm (at yahoo). Then, back to work.
-------
It's a nice Sunday!

Food Is Good

I love food! Does that make me a "foodie"?

Yesterday, my sister and niece dropped by for dinner. They brought pancit palabok from Little Quiapo, grilled liempo from Grill Queen, puto from Nathaniels. They also brought softdrinks. I enjoyed the liempo especially, I almost finished it.

Today, after our Monday visit to the hospital, mom treated me to Sushi-ya. As usual, we ordered Bento box consisting of ebi tempura (3 pieces), hagedashi tofu, California Maki, rice, and miso soup. I had pineapple juice, mom chose iced tea.

----------
I have finished reading "Beyond Disruption" by Jean-Marie Dru. I continued taking exerpts from it. Very interesting book!

----------
I discovered another word game, this time from Yahoo. It's called "Bookworm". It entails forming words, the longer the better and you must use the colored letters before they hit bottom. Exciting!

----------
I really believe in exercising the mind. While waiting in the hospital, I solved Sudoku puzzles. Fun!

----------
I am inviting friends to another Bibliarasal session. Even if there's only one participant other than me, that would be good enough.

Miscellaneous Stuff

I have been working on my new project. I was eager to do it, I was able to finish the excel file already. Now, I am starting the report in powerpoint presentation.

I also finished my other short project for another client yesterday.

I've said it before, I say it again: I love being a marketing researcher/analyst!

----------
I just read a write-up about Pacquiao, a commentary on his fight against Margarito. I admire Manny for his humility and kindness of heart. What a hero!

----------
I'm already in the book of Psalms. Some of them, I am familiar with. I have finished reading the book of Job and was inspired by it.

Clearly, no book can compare with the Bible. It is full of wisdom and makes one have faith in God.

---------
Today, I ate mojos for breakfast.

For lunch, we had dinuguan, lumpiang togue and inihaw na liempo.

For merienda, we ate suman.

Thank God for food!

Manna

Last night, my brother and his wife visited us. They brought Max's fried chicken and kare-kare. Yipee!

Today, my sister brought Causeway pancit canton.

What are siblings for?

-------

I've started reading the Bible. I'm done with Genesis. I love the stories of Noah and Joseph. I'm now reading Exodus. Interesting!

-------

I helped mom make chicken salad today. Yummy!

Food and Heaven

My friend, Greg, emailed to me the following:

One day many many years ago, my daughter asked me, “Pa, what is heaven like? What are the minimum qualifications to get into heaven? If I can meet those minimum qualifications, why should I even try to be a Mother Teresa?”

I replied, “I’ll answer those questions later. But, first, it’s almost lunch. Let’s talk about what to eat. Think about three foods. The first one is one that you like and would not mind eating everyday. The second one is a treat that you love; sort of like a ‘comfort food’; a step up from the first one; one that you would long for in special times. The third one is the ultimate meal; the one ‘to die for’; the top of the three foods; a celebration. What are your three foods?”

“Ok,” she responded, “the first one is macaroni and cheese, I can eat that everyday…the second one is sushi, uh-huh…and the third one is veal newberg, deeeeeelicious!”

“Well, then,” I said, “you just answered your questions earlier. If you meet the minimum qualifications to get to heaven, you will experience heaven in the way you like mac n cheese. If you try to be a person better than the minimum, you will get to heaven and experience whatever heaven is like sushi. And, if you are saintly, you will experience heaven and God in all His glory like veal newberg! See, all those who pass the minimum qualifications will get to heaven but each one will experience it differently. Most with pleasure, some with intense joy and a few with trance-like ecstasy.”

“Yum?” I asked.

“Mmmmm, good.” she said. “So, are we having veal newberg?”

---------

I don't know about you but I would go for sushi or even veal newberg!

Blessings for the Day

Today, my best friend and her mom visited me.

Before coming over, while they were still in Gateway, they texted me to ask what I wanted to eat. I said, "Anything." But in my mind, I wanted pasta.

True enough, when they arrived, they brought carbonara and spaghetti plus Coke Zero. We had merienda. Yahoo!

Then, Amy chose several shoes which I wanted to dispose of. I plan to give the other shoes she did not choose to my mom's masahista.

She gave me four lovely blouses for Christmas and New Year. They all fit. (Now, if I can just get rid of my big tummy.) She also gave mom a shawl.

When they left, mom arrived in a few minutes. She brought me a blouse for Christmas (she just came from Divisoria). She also brought food including dinner - mami and siopao from Ma Mon Luk, and castaƱas.

Thank You, Lord, for such wonderful blessings in one day!

-------
Funny conversation for the day:

My mom and I just came from my hematologist yesterday.

Today, Mommy asked "What did the doctor say will happen if the medicine she prescribed for your cough did not work after six days?"

I said, "Sorry, I wasn't listening."

And my poor aging mom simply could not remember!

Ha ha. We're a hopeless pair!

Fried Chicken and Spaghetti

For lunch, we had good old Max's fried chicken. Hmm, yummy! We also ate spaghetti with rice. It's funny how us Filipinos eat pasta with rice. Double carbs ha ha.

Oh no, client says my report template is too long. I have to put together several charts into one slide. I have yet to figure out how to do that. I welcome the challenge though.

Here's a beautiful quote:

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain."

And here's a picture that would go with it.

Turon, BBQ and Spaghetti

Yup, those are the delicious things I ate today. Turon for merienda. Barbecue and spaghetti for dinner, care of my sister.

I talked to my client via Skype today regarding significance testing and the data tables. Turns out she had expected the data processor to be the one to do the sigtesting. So, she is getting another DP supplier to do it for me. Yehey!

My computer is acting up. It is sending messages like "we encountered a problem...". Looks like I have a virus. I have asked my friend-technician to come tomorrow to check my computer. I can't do without it so he'd better fix it.

Another picture to delight the eyes:

Food for the Eyes

A while back, I saw pictures in FB which made my mouth water. Here they are:

Yummy!

Food Trip!

Yesterday, I had dinner with my friend Rexy. We ate at Butter Diner. We ordered cream of mushroom soup, ceasar salad, steak and baby back. Hmm, good food but not great.

We went to Shopwise and I got chocolates for my mom and Cheetos for my son (and myself he he).

Today, I continued my food trip after we visited Daddy's crypt. It's his birthday today. Since it is also mom's "anniversary" we asked her what she wanted to eat. Between Causeway and Dampa sa Libis, she said "any". But I knew she just loves crabs so I said Dampa.

We ate inihaw na baboy, calamares, tempura, crabs, fried fish, and halaan. Delicious!

------

At last! I have a project which came in today. But it's a rush report since the agency has to make a presentation by Tuesday. So that means I have to work today, tomorrow and until Monday. It's a difficult project but I like challenges.

And there will be more projects lined up. Thank God!

Images Online

I used to get my pictures only from ixquick.com. But recently, my friend recommended imagebank.com and corbis.com.

As usual, I looked at photos of food. Here are some which would make you salivate.
Hmmm, yummy!

Lumpiang Togue

I just ate two pieces of lumpiang togue. Yummy! It's funny how little things can bring so much delight!

What else would give me gastronomical pleasure?

1) corn
2) popcorn
3) sugar-free ice cream
4) sugar-free chocolates
5) Cheetos
6) instant noodles
7) tokwa't baboy
8) fishballs
9) squidballs
10) kikyam

Ha ha. None of these are particularly healthy but so what?
