Romantic Drama

Last night, I watched a romantic drama (for a change), entitled "Love Happens", starring Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart. There were funny moments. It was good, but not great. End of review.

------
I spent the most part of today doing a questionnaire. I enjoyed working on it. It's nice to have a new project (and source of income).

------
We had spaghetti for lunch today. My verdict? Could be better but I appreciate my mom's culinary efforts.

So for dinner, she improved on the spaghetti. Less sweet. More sour. Result? More delectable!
-------
Humor:

Last Thursday, mom and my son went to the grocery. I asked mom to buy me Rexona deodorant, any variant (kahit ano).

When they returned, she gave me the deodorant, same brand but of a different variant than the one I was using. She said she looked for "kahit ano" but couldn't find it. He he.

Don't you hate it when you're trying to recall a joke but cannot remember it?
Well, today (or was it yesterday?), mom cracked a joke. A pun, actually so I enjoyed it. But for some reason, I can't remember it! Oh well, as soon as I recall it, I will post it in this blog. Ha ha.

The Lord Giveth...

The Lord giveth, He taketh away...and He giveth again.

That's what happened just yesterday. A friend called up to say we have an FGD project. Then, later, she said it won't push through because she can't facilitate for four groups. She is going to Cebu on Friday. Later on in the day, she called again saying the project will go to us after all. I will do the analysis for four groups instead of just two. Yehey.

A small project came in today.

My ongoing project is still, well, ongoing. I had to revise the report so far. And new data came in.

---------
Humor for the day:

I was washing the dishes. Mom said to include the rice cooker and the kawali (frying pan).

She said, "Very easy. No grease. No Italy."

"No Spain." I added.

---------
I just love flowers! Don't you?

Funny Email

This came through email a few days ago. Just wanted to share it with you to make you laugh.

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN GUILTY OF LOOKING AT OTHERS YOUR OWN AGE AND THINKING, "SURELY I CAN'T LOOK THAT OLD!"?

WELL . . . YOU'LL LOVE THIS ONE.

MY NAME IS ALICE , AND I WAS SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT WITH A NEW DENTIST.

I NOTICED HIS DDS DIPLOMA ON THE WALL, WHICH BORE HIS FULL NAME. SUDDENLY, I REMEMBERED A TALL, HANDSOME, DARK-HAIRED BOY WITH THE SAME NAME HAD BEEN IN MY HIGH SCHOOL CLASS SOME 30-ODD YEARS AGO.

COULD HE BE THE SAME GUY THAT I HAD A SECRET CRUSH ON, WAY BACK THEN?

UPON SEEING HIM, HOWEVER, I QUICKLY DISCARDED ANY SUCH THOUGHT.

THIS BALDING, GRAY-HAIRED MAN WITH THE DEEPLY LINED FACE WAS WAY TOO OLD TO HAVE BEEN MY CLASSMATE.

AFTER HE EXAMINED MY TEETH, I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD ATTENDED MORGAN PARK HIGH SCHOOL .

'YES. YES, I DID. I'M A MUSTANG,' HE GLEAMED WITH PRIDE.

WHEN DID YOU GRADUATE?' I ASKED.

HE ANSWERED, 'IN 1975. WHY DO YOU ASK?'

YOU WERE IN MY CLASS!', I EXCLAIMED.

HE LOOKED AT ME CLOSELY.

THEN, THAT UGLY,

OLD,

BALD,

WRINKLED FACED,

FAT-ASSED,

GRAY-HAIRED,

DECREPIT

SON-OF-A-BITCH

ASKED,

'WHAT DID YOU TEACH???

The Happiness Project

I heard about the book and the site/blog, "The Happiness Project" by Gretchen Rubin. The book was a December 2009 bestseller and I don't wonder why.

I have subscribed to their newsletter. No harm in making a happy person happier. Ha ha.

Which leads me to ask, am I really truly happy?

Well, I would be happier if I were healthier, richer and had a special someone. But all things considered, I would say I am happy because:

1) I am living and staying in a conveniently located condo with two persons I love - my mom and my son

2) I get to enjoy sunsets any day I want

3) I love my job as freelance marketing research consultant and writer

4) I have four regular clients and several "irregular" ones

5) I have lots and lots of friends who care for me

6) I belong to a large extended loving family

7) I am in remission from my multiple myeloma

8) I have a computer of my own

9) We have two aircons and two TVs in our small condo

10) God loves me unconditionally and immeasurably...and so does He love you!

----------
Humor of the Day:

Mom has the habit of turning on the aircon after she takes a bath in the evening. When she was in front of the mirror right beside the aircon, she went all the way to the bed to get the remote to turn on the aircon. I laughed because she could easily have turned on the aircon by switching it on without need of the remote. Force of habit, she says.

Anger, Denial, Bargaining....

People are wondering why I am not going through the negative states of anger (to whom do I get mad?), denial (why deny when the evidence is strong that I do have multiple myeloma), bargaining (in exchange for what?)...I went straight to acceptance! Actually, I started with humor and it is my sense of humor that's keeping my spirits high. This plus faith. What a powerful combination and a wonderful formula for survival! You should try it sometime.

It's joke time!
1) Question: Why did the student pray the serenity prayer?

Answer: Because he was poor in math and he was asked to subtract two numbers. And so he prayed, "Lord, give me the wisdom to tell the difference."

2) Question: What is the redundant song of Jose Mari Chan?
Answer: The one that goes - "Tell me your name, you're Lovely, please tell me your name. (Lovely!)

Alright, that's all my Pun de Nimia for now.
