This blog aims not only to make people laugh, but also to inspire others, instill positive values...in short, to make this world a little better, a little happier. This blog is meant to bless (in my own little way) all those who read it. It's my way of saying "I love you more and more".
I did watched the DVD my son gave me, "Facing the Giants". I cried several times even if the story is quite predictable. I love inspiring stories showing God's power and faithfulness. I wish there were more movies like this.
I worked on my report today. I finished another category except for the conclusions.
From time to time, my former dreams come back. I dream of putting up a gift shop called Humor and More. A restaurant called Ha-Ha-Inan Res-Tawa-Rant. A movie production company. Ahh! Dreams...
I had a vivid dream last night of candles lit all over my old room in our house in Matulungin Street. The candles were placed perpendicularly on the curtains by the windows and walls. When I looked up the Internet what lit candles mean, it said the coming of small fortunes.
True enough, a client which has not given me a project for so long, is giving me a three-group FGD project. I will be facilitating next week. Yehey!
There's another part of the dream when I saw one candle blow out. The interpretation of this is the fear of dying. I just texted my doctor and asked her what my prognosis is because that is what my friends keep asking me. She said "Good naman because you are in remission." Great! There's nothing to fear.
No, we don't know each other from Adam (nor from Eve).
Susan is Susan Boyle, now the much talked-about, sensational contestant of Britain's Got Talent. She is 47 years old, single, unemployed, overweight, and most people would say, ugly (kinder souls would describe her as "plain"). But when she sang "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables, I cannot remember hearing a better version of the song! She has got tremendous talent! Susan may not look it, but she is bound to be a professional singer...as she had dreamed.
When asked who she wanted to be as successful as, Susan answered "Elaine Paige". Elaine who? Of course, us Filipinos are not expected to know her but I looked her up in the Internet and indeed she is a big shot - a British actress and singer, known for her awards and achievements on stage/musicals. She is a producer herself. Out of curiosity, I listened to her sing "I Dreamed a Dream" - great voice, polished...but I like Susan better.
And Lea? Our very own Lea Salonga. I watched her sing "I Dreamed a Dream" in YouTube as well. There is a wonderful combination of beauty and talent - not only can she sing, she can act as everybody knows by now.
And me? Where do I fit in? I don't sing but I would love to. Nobody enjoys my singing. I am a year older than Susan but I can say I'm much prettier than her. What have we got in common aside from us being single? We both have dreams. She wants very badly to be a professional singer. Previously, nobody gave her a chance. Now's her opportunity at fame.
In my case, it's quite the opposite. I used to dream of being famous and popular someday. Now I have given up that dream. My dream is to lead a simple life making as many people as possible happy, spreading love and happiness everywhere.
No, it's not likely that Susan, Elaine, Lea and I will ever meet. But we are all living our dreams, reaching out for our dreams. And you? What are you waiting for?
Once in a while, I have vivid dreams. The ones I remember more than seconds after waking up.
Just recently, I remember that I was losing my young child. After frantic searching, I just couldn't find him! My one and only child and he was gone! It was so scary so I willed myself to wake up . Reality check: My son is no longer 7 years old. He's a strong, very much present 20-year-old.
Interpretation: My son is graduating from college soon. He has been having his "own life" since high school. When he starts working, he will be all the more "gone" from my life. I miss the days when he was a little boy and clung to me. He even cries whenever I leave the house to go to work. How I wish I could bring back those days!
Another dream or recurrent dreams: Me, holding hands, embracing my favorite boyfriend or somebody special. Romantic! Sweet!...
...but upon waking up, there is no one holding me. Interpretation: I still long for that special someone. And that favorite boyfriend? He is now very much married and has a child. He is the one that "got away".
Last night I had a strange dream. A room full of toys and party favors...I was riding in a jeep and a woman says I'm pretty. She gives me a brochure for a beauty product...A former boss gives me work to do and I didn't do it well.
Interpretation: My longing for my happy childhood days...My vanity...My anxiety for not performing my utmost best at work.
Again, I remember what my psychiatrist told me about dreams. Usually one dreams of either what is currently happening in your life and what you long for or want to happen.
Why do I remember more the dreams of things I pine for?
1) My father very much alive 2) Our home in Matulungin Street, Quezon City where we lived for the longest time 3) My son when he was still little 4) A man holding my hands
When I asked my psychiatrist the meaning of dreams, he said there are two kinds of dreams: 1) What is happening to your life right now 2) What you long for or want to happen
How true! Often enough, I dream of what is going on in my life right now. Like when I have a project to finish, I dream of that project. When I was teaching, I dream of my class and lessons I'm supposed to teach.
But too many of my dreams are of the second type.
...I dream of my father because I miss him after all these years. He passed away in October 31, 2001 but in my dreams, he is very much alive. My former psychiatrist told me once that I did not grieve properly for my father's death. Now, I may be overdoing it. Oh Daddy, I cannot wait till I see you again in heaven.
...That large home in Matulungin Street. So many happy memories! So many cherished moments shared with loved ones! The fun-filled parties. The smiles, the laughter, and the tears. To this day, I pass by that house and look longingly. If I win in the lotto, I shall buy back that house. (Problem is, I don't buy lotto tickets.)
...My son is now 20 years old and graduating from college. But when he was little, he was so cute and we were really close. Now, he has his many friends, school, church...other interests. I still get to see him of course but I miss the closeness. What is it with children that they grow up too fast?
...Recently, I went out with a friend and he held my hand. He kept feeling and touching it. He said I have such soft hands. I would have been thrilled because he is real cute...except that he's "estranged" from his wife but they still see each other. Besides, he's about 10 years younger. Ha ha. No way! Here I go again...seeking for that special someone who will hold my hand.
In a recent episode of Preacher in Blue Jeans [January 23, 2009], Bo Sanchez talked about the power of words. We can prophesy our future by the use of words, not just words per se but written words.
So here are my prophesies:
1) Someday, I will meet my father again in heaven! 2) Someday, I will buy back that house in Matulungin OR build one just like it. 3) Someday, I will be close with my son again. 4) Someday, a special man will come into my life and I will grow old with him and...of course, he will constantly hold my hands.
There, sweet dreams are made of these. But reality is so much sweeter.
