Came from "Vacation"

I just came from a weeklong "vacation". My room was airconditioned, had its own comfort room, well-lit, and I could call for "service" anytime. My bed can even be raised or lowered. I was served food 6 times a day.

You guessed right. I did not stay in a hotel room but a hospital room. I underwent all sort of tests - daily CBC, two x-rays, 1 city scan, 1 ultrasound. I was visited daily by my doctor. On my last day, a G.I. specialist went to see me. She said I have air in my billary tree but she does not recommend medication nor any intervention. What she was more concerned about was the presence of lymph nodes, one as big as 5.5 cm. They have to be biopsied to determine if they are tumors or not.

The official reason for my being admitted is that I have pneumonia. It turned out that the real culprit is my multiple myeloma causing haziness in my lung xrays. And my rib cage has collapsed causing me severe pain.

Except for the first night, mom stayed with me the whole time. My son would come from time to time to bring stuff from home. I was visited at different times by my older brother and his wife, and by my sister.

I finished reading a book (a lousy one), solved Sudoku puzzles, watched TV including a Piolo Pascual and Regine Velasquez movie. Of course, I'm glad that I did not miss "100 Days to Heaven".

Because of my being in the hospital, I was not able to do one report. When I asked the Client about it, she said it is already completed and submitted to end-Client. Anyway, there will always be a next time, she said.

I am working on a report which is due next week. They are asking for a presentation but mom did not allow me because I will be again exposed. My immune system is down so I really have to wear my mask. Someone else would do the presentation but I am committed to finish the report by Sunday or Monday at the latest.

This late afternoon, I edited a short report. It's already paid for so I'm glad to deduct from my advances.

My friend gifted me with a new cane. How nice of her! God bless her.

Lord, I offer this pain to all those who are suffering.

Three Projects on a Single Day

Today, I worked on three different projects.

One was on my FGD report. I finished putting verbatims on the appropriate sections.

The second one was a UAI report. It's supposed to be a nationwide study but the data tables I have are only for Luzon. So, I started making summary charts on Luzon.

The third project was another UAI report. The charts have already been made. So I just did some significance testing. I'm too tired to do any analysis tonight.

Good thing my friend, whom I invited over, couldn't make it. I was able to do a lot of work.
-------

Practically the whole day, my internet was down. I called my technician-friend and he told me to disconnect my router and to connect my internet cable directly to my computer. I followed his instructions and so I was able to open my email, check for lotto results, and write this blog.
--------
I have a friend who writes very well. (I quoted her recently.) I encouraged her to start her own blog. Blogging is so much fun. It can even be therapeutic!

Japanese Food!

I waited for an hour for my friend, Rexy. She promised to treat me out for my birthday (a belated treat).

It was well worth the wait! We went to Teriyaki Boy at Gateway. We ordered sukiyaki, hagedashi tofu, tuna sashimi, chicken teriyaki, and ebi tempura. When the waiter said "2 Gohan" I asked, what's Gohan? It meant rice. Ha ha.

Food trip! I texted mom to ask what she wanted. She said either chicken teriyaki or ebi tempura. So we ordered ebi tempura for her.

Rexy brought me home and even up to our condo. How kind of her! I feel so blessed to have such generous friends.

Today, I worked on three reports. All are quite easy.

Massaging Feet

Last night, I massaged my mom's feet. It was a small act of love but she enjoyed it immensely. I'm glad to have done it.

Today, I just wrote a topline report. Yesterday, I cleared another report. Little jobs. Still work nevertheless.

My mom and son went to the grocery today. I got my supply of shampoo, sanitary napkin, tissue paper, and Pond's facial wash/cream.

Another ChowKing Lunch

I had another Chow King lunch today. This time, yang chow with sweet and sour fish fillet. I had star apple for dessert.

I finished my long report. At last!

Then, I started another report which is due on Thursday. I am sure to finish before then.

Another working Sunday for me!

Sleepy Yet Productive

I slept almost the whole day today.

I woke up at 9 am just in time for morning TV mass.

I was asleep again by the time the mass ended.

I ate a quick lunch.

Back to sleep till 2 pm.

Then, I worked on two reports with a vengeance. I finished both in record time. Just took time out to eat merienda and dinner, and to take a bath.

I live a simple life. But I'm glad I still get to work.

Now, shall go back to sleep?

Working on a Monday...Without the Rains

Today was a working day for me (after days of sleeping!)

I worked on two reports. A topline report which I finished. And an FGD report which I was not able to finish.

Got to talk to two friends over the phone. One was my best friend, Amy. She updated me on work and personal life. Hope my doctor will agree that I go with her to Batangas in October. The other caller was Jobert. He told me what happened to his staff because of typhoon Ondoy, what he wrote in the Internet, his travels, his reactions to my book.

Nice "disruptions" from my work.

I continue to pray for the flood victims, especially those with casualties in their families.

Two Reports and a Movie

The major activities for today are I finished two reports and watched a movie, "Alex and Emma". Not bad for somebody who hardly slept last night.

Throughout the day, I took naps. But nothing like a good loooooong, restful sleep. When will that be, I wonder?

My keyboard got broken so my faithful computer expert of a friend, Noel, bought one for me with a wireless mouse and 10 rewritable CDs with case. To follow tomorrow, is my new computer - with flat LCD monitor and CPU plus computer table. Yehey!

Today, I chatted with an old friend who has third stage cancer. There will be benefit concerts for him and he is giving me two tickets. Yehey!

God is good. He is very good. Nope, magnanimous is the word!

A Very Nice Monday

Woke up early today. Early enough to catch my son who was leaving for youth camp. Asked him to microwave my oatmeal for me.

Too early to leave for my client meeting. So slept again.

Took a bath. Had no trouble finding a cab.

Was too early, so ate batchoy and drank Coke Light at the canteen.

When we went to Client's office, guess what? Meeting postponed!

Blessing in disguised. I was able to reach Palanca office early to submit my entry.

Reached home. Mom not yet arrived.

Ordered lunch and dinner.

Took a nap after lunch.

Continued the book I started reading yesterday entitled "The Fifth Angel" by Tim Green.

My assistant arrived.

I did the following - revised a report, sent charts to client, formulated a questionnaire, cleared a codebook, talked to two subcontractors over the phone.

Mom arrived bringing all sorts of casoy - cashew nuts per se, yema casoy, panucha casoy.

Not bad for a Monday, huh?

Now back to my exciting book...
